Who we are
The Open Society Foundation is a non-governmental organization that has operated in Slovakia since 1992. In 2005 our foundation supported 346 projects from other non-governmental organizations and individuals via its grant programs and scholarships. Our support and program activities were worth SKK 80 million. NOS-OSF is part of the Soros Foundation network (see www.soros.org for more details).
Our mission
We create opportunities for people to improve society by making it more open, transparent and accepting of equal opportunities. These values represent the ideal of an open society that best describes our diverse goal-oriented program and grant activities.
We support the following
- marginalized groups and activities aimed at actively overcoming their problems and protecting human rights,
- developing philanthropy and the non-governmental sector,
- principles of good-governance and transparency in public processes,
- education at all levels,
- activities aimed at protecting public health,
- improvement of media.
